soil cultivation and growing practices, inspired by natural farming techniques used by ancient civilizations for thousands of years prior to the introduction of mechanized and chemical-based farming. We are intensive growers, planting anf growing over 20,000 transplants and at least double the number of direct seeded crops. Healthy soil fertility management is of the utmost importance, and seen as the key to crop production and a balanced, diverse ecosystem. We manage and improve our soil through annual soil testing, crop rotation and companion planting, permanent raised beds and permanent paths, heavy applications of compost made on site, and minimized tillage. French, or Bio-Intensive tillage is done by hand, and minimizes disruption of microbial growth and processes. The farm seeks to work holistically, integrating the demands and needs of the soil, the crops the farmers, and the surrounding community to maintain and sustain health, vibrance and economic sustainability.
